Caretaker Boss Adam Barrett Prepares for Tough Millwall Challenge at Preston

In his second stint as caretaker manager for Millwall, Adam Barrett anticipates a formidable encounter as his team travels to Preston North End. This comes on the heels of a turbulent week at The Den, with Gary Rowett's departure as manager.

Barrett, aged 43, takes the reins of the first-team until further notice, stepping into the role during a crucial phase for the club. His initial task is to secure a positive result at Deepdale, a stadium where Millwall has previously performed well. However, they will face a Preston side currently ranked third in the Championship, despite a recent string of three consecutive losses.

Barrett comments, "Preston have had an excellent start to the season. They faced a minor setback just before the international break, which might have been beneficial for them as they welcome players returning to full fitness. We're expecting an incredibly challenging game, without a doubt."

He emphasizes the need for Millwall to be at their best, especially after a hectic 24 hours. Barrett mentions a productive training session and the team's eagerness for the match. He concludes, "It's a great game to be involved in, and we'll ensure that, come kick-off, we're prepared to put in a real shift."

While Barrett previously served as Gary Rowett's assistant manager, he emphasizes that his current focus is solely on the upcoming game against Preston. He states, "We can't look too far ahead. Right now, it's all about Preston, and afterward, we'll consider the home game against Blackburn. In this caretaker situation, it's essential to maintain a concentrated approach on the immediate game. We can't afford to get ahead of ourselves, and who knows where we'll be in two or three weeks."
