Saints' Demario Davis Game-Time Decision, Injury Updates vs. Jaguars

METAIRIE, La. - The New Orleans Saints are facing uncertainty regarding linebacker Demario Davis' availability for their Thursday matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to Saints coach Dennis Allen, Davis, dealing with a knee issue, will be a game-time decision.

Davis was present during the team's practices on both Tuesday and Wednesday but was listed as a nonparticipant. This 12-year veteran has demonstrated remarkable durability throughout his career, having missed only one game in 2021 due to COVID-19. Injury has never sidelined him in an NFL game.

As of now, Davis is officially listed as questionable for the upcoming game.

The Saints are also grappling with shortages in their offensive line. Left tackle James Hurst and right tackle Ryan Ramczyk have been ruled out. Trevor Penning, the starting left tackle before Hurst, may fill in for him in the lineup.

Landon Young, a reserve tackle, is also unavailable, which makes veteran practice squad tackle Cameron Erving a potential candidate to replace Ramczyk. Last week, the Saints had to make temporary adjustments due to left guard Andrus Peat's injury, moving right guard Cesar Ruiz to tackle for the first time in his career after Ramczyk's departure.

On the defensive side, safety Tyrann Mathieu (foot) and running back Jamaal Williams (hamstring) are both listed as questionable after being limited in practice this week. Williams, who has been on injured reserve, was designated for return on Tuesday.

For the Jacksonville Jaguars, quarterback Trevor Lawrence faces a question mark with a left knee sprain. However, he expressed optimism about his availability, as he hasn't missed a game in his three-year NFL career.

Lawrence practiced with a brace on his left knee on Tuesday, and head coach Doug Pederson indicated that the team would assess his condition on Thursday before making a final decision. In preparation for any scenario, the team signed practice squad quarterback Nathan Rourke to the active roster on Wednesday, designating him as the emergency quarterback.

Unfortunately, the Jaguars will be without three starters: cornerback Tyson Campbell (hamstring), left guard Walker Little (knee), and receiver Zay Jones (knee). Campbell sustained an injury against Indianapolis last Sunday, while Jones will miss his third game due to an injury initially suffered in Week 2. Little will sit out his second consecutive contest.
